Yankee Kids

Baseball season is coming to an end... we are now playing in the closing tournament. The Yankee team did awesome in their first game... 22 to 5! It has been a really fun season with a cute group of kids. I LOVE watching my boys play baseball! And...Zaley makes a really cute Yankee girl too. ;)

Wow, life just gets more and more crazy. Between working full-time, scouts, tumbling, karate, homework, meetings, etc...sometimes I just wish I could have a "mom-duplication" machine. It's also time to start up with baseball again, which will add one more layer! I sometimes feel like bursting to tears or letting out a big scream when I feel like I am needed for something all day at work, then I come home to "Mom! Mom! Mom!" every 5 seconds. The other night as I got into bed Craig asked something and I just said "Can I PLEASE have 5 minutes to myself where I am NOT needed?!"...poor Craig got to have my frustration come out at him. (Sorry honey.) Reflecting on the last few stressful weeks I guess I need to shift my thinking and be THANKFUL that I am needed, wanted, and loved. I am so blessed and all in all, having my children and husband need me is a beautiful thing because they are my life. I pledge to chillax just a bit and enjoy the blessings that are all around me!

Trey's New Glasses

We went for our eye check-ups last week and discovered that Treysen's astigmatism had gotten worse, which was the cause of all of his constant headaches! Treysen got glasses yesterday and he was SO excited. He thinks it's super cool that his Nike glasses match his Nike shoes and Nike backpack. ;) He looks so handsome and grown up!

Eight years ago today I went to the hospital telling the doctor my water was leaking and I was contracting. He told me I probably peed my pants, gave me a sleeping pill and sent me home! 4 hours later, Treysen was here and I was saying "still think I just peed my pants?!". My life changed forever that day when I became a mom. Suddenly all priorities were shifted and things that mattered before were nothing compared to the miracle that had just been placed in my hands. Hopefully I've been a good mom...I sure try! I am so blessed to have 3 beautiful kids. Happy Birthday Trey-Man...my imaginative, creative, intelligent, little cheese ball! Love you forever!

Am I really old enough to have a 1st and 2nd grader?

As I walked my kids to their classrooms on Tuesday morning for their first day of school I had to take a deep breath and try my hardest to be strong. It seems like they just entered our lives and here we are taking them to school, leaving them in the hands of someone else for the entire day. There is so much uncertainty and I get so nervous. My kids, on the other hand, are much stronger than I am. I ask if they're going to hug me and they say "yeah, in the car!". Since when did it become "un-cool" to hug their mom? On the first day of first grade Tai hangs up his backpack and runs down the hall saying "I'm going to the playground!". Trey hangs up his backpack and goes directly to his desk to start coloring a page left on their desks by the teacher. At the end of the day, Tai tells me "I met a really cool friend and had an awesome day". Trey tells me "I began the day with zero friends because I didn't know anyone, but I ended the day with 20 new friends, and 20 out of 22 isn't bad!"(There are 22 in his class.) I LOVE MY BOYS!!! I hope they have a great year!

July-August 2010

The end of summer was full of fun! Lots of golfing, family BBQs, fireworks, motorcycle riding, boating, camping, fishing, family vacation and time with good friends!

The 4th of July was great with Craig's family. The 24th of July (aka Grandma Fern's Birthday) was great with my family! Fireworks are always fun.

We went boating with the Bird family, which was a lot of fun.

We went on a family vacation to Park City with Craig's family and had a good time! Lagoon, swimming, the Alpine Slide, Alpine Coaster and Olympic Park were all highlights.

We then went camping with the Bird, McKenna and Rios families. A great time with friends! The kids LOVED riding their bikes and fishing!

Can you believe summer is pretty much over? Not sure I'm ready for that...

RINA Training

Today is the last day of the RINA training that I have been coordinating. It has been held at the Escala Lodge in Park City and it has been really nice! If you have not visited the Escala Lodge at The Canyons, you definitely should check it out! So excited to check this project off my list though! It has definitely taken a lot of planning and hard work...

May 2010 Update

Well, things have been very busy! My boys have been taking swimming lessons two days a week and they just started pitching machine baseball two nights a week. The boys are so excited to have REAL New York Yankees jerseys, baseball pants and cletes! They are doing great! Zaley is our beautiful, crazy girl...FULL OF PERSONALITY! She certainly keeps us on our toes, but she also keeps plenty of laughter and smiles in our lives. Work is absolutely crazy...I am currently coordinating two charity golf tournaments, a training for our switching partners in Park City, and Annual Meeting is just around the corner...not to mention my everyday duties that are piling up pretty high! I guess it makes the day go fast. The kids are excited for summer. I'm excited for them...but not excited for the summer daycare costs when the boys aren't in school! Craig is keeping busy too, and as you see below, he just bought the boys their first dirt bike so they are all on cloud 9. I love, love, love my family and I am so blessed. ;)

Zaley turned 2 on February 28th. It seems like yesterday that we had our new baby girl. She is growing up so fast and has so much personality! She loves shoes, the color pink, chocolate, and Dora the Explorer. She is talking like crazy and loves to run and play. She is absolutely precious! Happy Birthday Princess!

School Days

I attended Parent Teacher Conference this week. Both of my boys are doing so great and I could not be more proud. They are tremendous readers and their intellectual growth amazes me every day. I have to say that some of their ability may just come naturally, but it is due in a large part to outstanding teachers. We are so blessed to have had Shirlene Law as their preschool teacher at USU; she gave them a great head start and I will be forever grateful. Treysen had Crystal Riser last year, and Taidyn has her this year. She is one of the most amazing individuals I know. I can see how much she loves teaching and watching her classroom succeed, but even more than that I can see how much she loves every child she teaches. If all teachers had 25% the compassion, love and desire that she does, our schools would be a better place. A big THANK YOU to all of those teachers out there that truly care...what a difference they can make in this world.

Craig and I spent 4 days in Chicago this month. We loved seeing Wrigley Field, Trump Towers, Millenium Park, Navy Pier... My cousin Ben and Allison came down the last night and we loved walking downtown, having dinner and chatting. We had a good time!

Here is Taidyn on his first day of Kindergarten!

Mrs. Riser asked them to bring a poster on their first day, "It's All About Taidyn". The poster highlights a few things: Tai likes his family, friends, pizza, his tiger, his dinosaur and the color blue. He wants to be a Golf Pro when he grows up so he can golf all day and teach people how to drive golf carts. His favorite book is Superman.

They were also asked to bring a "paper doll" that looked just like them. His guy has a sketched face from his photo and an outfit just like Jo Jonas complete with DC shoes and a scarf. Funny ;)

Trey's First Day of 1st Grade!

I cannot believe it. It seems like yesterday that Treysen was my little 6 lbs 13 oz baby, born on Friday the 13th of September. Even though Friday the 13th is unlucky for some, it was the best day I had ever had and this little boy has brought us nothing but joy. Treysen is so smart, imaginative, creative and loving. I don't know what I'd do without his constant hugs. I hope he has an amazing day at school today!

Missing Grandpa Today

My Grandpa Lloyd was selfless, friendly, loving and strong. He was both my Grandpa and my daddy. He was my world and he is a huge part of who I am today. 15 years ago today he passed away. That was the hardest day of my life. Many times growing up I would think "Would Grandpa be proud of me?" His example helped me make the right choices because I couldn't stand to ever let him down. I hope he is still proud of me.

I love you Grandpa and I miss you more than words can explain. Thanks for watching over us until we meet again.

Our First Camping Trip

This weekend we went camping at Yellow Pine with the McKenna's and the Bird's. There were 10 kids, all 6 and under! The boys put a lot of miles on their bikes, loved fishing, and of course roasting marshmallows. Good times!

Our little Zaley was the easiest baby, but she is quickly becoming very independent and stubborn. Climbing drawers, playing in toilets, dumping everything in the pantry...this little girl is going to give me a run for my money. She just looks so innocent!

4th of July Trip

For the 4th of July, we took the kids to "Stadium of Fire" in Provo. We were lucky enough to get front row tickets! Taidyn's heros, The Jonas Brothers, performed. It was a great show! We also took the kids to the aquarium. Zaley loved watching the sharks. As soon as we got home, Treysen had dad working on the playset in the backyard (which we hope will be all assembled by tonight)! GOOD TIMES!

This morning we went to the Neola parade for the 4th of July. Airplanes flew right over us, and the kids loved getting TONS OF CANDY! Now we're off to Provo to the Stadium of Fire to watch the Jonas Brothers. We are SO excited! Happy 4th of July everyone!

This Father's Day, I want to tell my husband how grateful I am to have such a wonderful husband and dad to our kids. Our kids adore their dad and it is so special to see the connection that they have. The boys love to do anything with dad - play outside, golf, wrestle, play video games or board games, ride in the backhoe... The boys always tell me that someday they will be as big as dad and as strong as dad. Zaley LOVES her "dada". In fact, it's hard to get her to say anything else because she loves "dada" so much! It reminds me of the bond that I had with my Grandpa Lloyd and I can't explain what that means to me. Babe, I love you. Thank you for bringing so much joy and love into our home. Happy Father's Day!

I love Easter morning. The kids are just as excited as they are on Christmas morning! Give them a chicken who poops gumballs and a bubble maker and they are happy as can be. The opening act was hilarious, and Celine was amazing, as always! It's so great to be a mom, but man it's fun to get out and be with girls once in a while!

After the concert, Heather and I went back to the hotel and crashed (11:30-6:30!). I can't remember the last time I slept through the night. Man it felt GOOOODDDDD!

Tonight Treysen made a "theatre ticket box". He made a window to look through, a money holder and holes for the tickets to come up. He only charged his little brother $3 to get into the movie (which will be a cartoon on the TV tomorrow). What a nice brother!

Look, Zaley is growing hair! (Look closely, it's there!) And yes, that is a Christmas tree in the background. We took down our decorations and our big tree in the front room, but the boys are insisting that "their tree" stays in the living room as long as they want. Pretty soon we'll be one of those weirdos that decorates their tree with Valentine's.

We ordered a new playpen and Treysen was the happiest kid in the world when I told him he could have the box. Within minutes he had made a Star Wars ship, complete with wings that fold in and a steering wheel.

This is Trey & Tai's nightly routine. We come home, they pull out their "Star Wars Bin" and play with their Star Wars guys, light sabers, guns, and ships. Then they'll move to the Wii to challenge each other on their Lego Star Wars game. Sometimes they'll even put on their costumes so they can have a real, live duel with their light sabers!

Priorities...

Have you ever had one of those days that makes you really look at your life? Today is one of those days for me. When you lose someone you love, when you see others lose someone they love, when you fear loss, when you see someone compromise their value or priorities for senseless things... it makes you step back and ask yourself "are my priorities where they should be?". These redefining moments are actually probably good for us, as they make us treasure the things that really matter. The company I work for would probably replace me and forget I was even there after a while, but family is forever. Family and those you really love are not replaceable. I hope I can always remember a few simple things as I go throughout life. 1) The most important work I will ever do will be within the walls of my own home. 2) Nothing in this life should be more valued than time with family and loved ones. 3) Nothing will lift you up more than helping others. 4) Time is precious - Don't focus on the moments when you're out of breath, but on the moments that take your breath away. 5) We should never make exceptions to our values or priorities - the moment you do, they are weakened. Anyways, here's to enjoying every moment in life and keeping our priorities straight. :)

His boys love to spend time with him - dad is the "fun" one! I know my husband loves me for who I am and he is my best friend. He would do anything for me and I am so thankful for the example he is to our children and those around him. His morals are strong and his stubborness is a strength in this area because he will never change who he is or what he believes in. Luv U Honey!

Zaley's First Christmas

This was a special Christmas this year, as it was Zaley's first! She got the cutest little pink horse and stroller with a baby, but of course she was much more interested in the boxes. Our little princess has brought so much joy to our lives and I treasure every moment with her. She will be ONE on February 28th and I can't believe how fast time has gone. She is saying dada, mama, baba and Zaley which sounds more like "Zay-ee". It's so fun to watch her grow and change every day!

A Proud Moment

I love Christmas time and the feeling of giving that it brings. This Christmas, I was especially proud of my 6 year old, Trey. There was a story in the newspaper about a family that lost their home and everything in a fire just before Christmas. I showed the story to Trey and told him that they had a 6 year old boy just like him. The boy wore the same size of clothes and shoes as him, so I asked Trey to go to his room and see what he could come up with. He packed a bag full of various items: a backpack, blanket, books, stuffed animals, motorcycles, guys, socks, underwear, pants, shirts, a pair of shoes... He finished gathering everything and said "that should do it". His little brother Tai looked at him and said "why are you giving all of our stuff away?" and Trey said "because there is a little boy out there with no home, no toys and no clothes and he needs this stuff a lot more than we do". We got in the car and drove to the house that was accepting donations for the family. Trey insisted on taking the bag to the door himself. He never questioned why we should do it, he just knew. I've never been more proud of him!
